Russian Hill 091225 039 Francisco Park Copy

To our dear Francisco Park Community,

If you’ve been to the park recently, you may have noticed that the goats are back on the upper hillside for their annual feast. We are thrilled that they are trimming back for us a year’s worth of blackberries, fennel, and poison oak. The goats will be on site for another week or two, if you want to enjoy a good laugh as they bleat and headbutt and make good trouble. Please do not feed or pet the goats because you might get poison oak from their hairs.

Below the hillside, Francisco Park is seeking volunteers to help us reset the stones in the ditch next to Bruce’s Stairs to prepare for the rainy season, attach new growth on grapevines to the fence, and weed the common space in the community garden. Please consider joining fellow park lovers and neighbors for our Volunteer Gardening Day this Saturday, September 20 from 10am – 12noon. Sign up: http://www.franciscopark.org/volunteer.

Francisco Park was once a decommissioned reservoir. Today, it’s a vibrant public jewel, made possible by one of San Francisco’s rare public-private partnerships.
The park was envisioned by neighbors, built in partnership with the City, and is now maintained by our community of Stewards. Your support ensures it remains beautiful, inclusive, and well-cared-for—for generations to come.
