Greetings from Francisco Park Conservancy!
Last month, we had another incredible yoga session at the park, and we got together with dog owners for a Coffee Klatch, down at Pepi’s Dog Park by the Bay Street entrance. Our Board members, Susan and Tom Gage brought some delicious treats from Bob’s Donuts on Polk Street and incredible coffee. Thank you to everyone who attended these events.
Community is at the heart of what we do at Francisco Park. In a recent interview with Shakira Elif, a regular at the park, we learned about her favorite aspects and how she has found a sense of community there. Elif mentioned that she first came to the park with a friend when it opened and has returned because of how it makes her feel. When asked about her favorite part of the park, she said with a gleam in her eye and a wide smile, “The energy; it’s magical. It’s vibrant during the day and exudes a salient tranquility as the sun sets.” She showed me a picture of the park at night, and it makes sense. Everything glows at night.
Francisco Park boasts stunning views at any time of day, even when the fog rolls in. When asked how she has found community in San Francisco, Elif noted that the park was crucial for meeting new people. “Francisco Park has started hosting yoga sessions on (the last Sundays from April to October)! This has been a great way to get in a workout while meeting new people and four-legged friends in the neighborhood.” We hope that you all can meet a friend or two the next time you are at the park, and perhaps you will run into Shakira during this month’s yoga session on Sunday August 25th from 10-11am.
