To our dear Francisco Park Community,
In honor of Valentine’s Day, we’re sharing love letters from regular park goers who have fallen in love with the beauty, peace, and community that Francisco Park offers. Whether it’s the quiet mornings, sunny afternoons, or the joy of meeting friends, these letters reflect why this park holds a special place in so many hearts. Some love letters are not expressed in words, rather photographs of dear memories.
As you know, Francisco Park was a defunct and neglected space until a group of committed volunteers and generous donors transformed it into the thriving green haven we enjoy today. Sean Marshall reflects on how much it has changed over the years:
“It’s gone from an undesirable place to a beautiful addition where I can read in the grass, play with my daughter, enjoy the garden, and meet people from the neighborhood.”
Sean, who volunteered during the park’s creation, smiles as he points to a garden bed along the beautiful wooden walkway.
“I really enjoyed planting some of these plants and spreading mulch in this area.”
Francisco Park is a place where community members can gather over volunteering or park sponsored events. Katherine Haro recalls her first time at the park with her friend Catherine and her dog Ryder.
“We anxiously peeked over every time we walked up Hyde Street waiting for the park to be completed. Eventually the day would come where we would take Ryder for a walk through the park.”
Since the park opened, Haro has spent sunny days at the park eating lunch and weekends with her best friend sunbathing or playing on the swing sets.
“I love Francisco Park so much that I became committed to making this a place where others create wonderful memories, too.”
We invite you all to share with us why you love the park so much. Let us know why this place has a special spot in your heart! Share a photo or video and tag us with #LoveFranciscoPark.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
With Love,
Francisco Park Conservancy
