We are pleased to announce the addition of a handsome chrome heart sculpture to Francisco Park. The heart was created by local artist Laura Lineback, and is part of the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital Foundation series. The heart was generously donated by Helen Hilton Raiser.
It stands on a key artery in the park, poised between the main lawn and the elevated walkway, reflecting and contributing to the park’s unique panorama of the waterfront. The heart, a natural symbol for Francisco Park, perches where “little cable cars climb halfway to the stars” along Hyde Street.
It will be surrounded by island snapdragons (galvezea speciosa), a red flower favored by the charming hummingbirds who regularly flock on the site.
If not for the love shown by so many of you, Francisco Park would never have become a reality. Thank you, all, for sharing so much heartfelt generosity in helping build this new haven for hummingbirds and humans alike!
We simply cannot wait to welcome all of you to Francisco Park this spring.
