Russian Hill mom Roseanne Wincek approached Francisco Park Conservancy last year to ask if we would consider offering a Storytime program to help meet the increasing demand for local library Storytime hours. We were glad to support and introduced our outdoor Storytime program on the Final Fridays of the month (April through October) from 10:30–11:15 a.m.

Francisco Park Conservancy’s Storytime reader Julia Lee has become a familiar face at the park. Julia chooses a theme — holidays, friendship, or big feelings — and selects books to match. Between stories, she often breaks into song or draws young readers into conversation.

Storytimes are geared toward children ages 3–5 and their parents and caregivers, though adults are often spotted lingering near the playground, watching the children and listening in.

Francisco Park Conservancy is currently seeking volunteers to help support our Storytime program. Sponsorship interest is also welcome. Email us at [email protected] if you’d like to get involved.

We want to especially thank our generous donors who make events like Storytime, Yoga, and Dads with Strollers possible. Francisco Park Conservancy funds park salaries, works with San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department to improve Francisco Park and depends solely on private donations from people like you.
